About the event
Heather Batman, MS, OTR, BCP, CNT, NTMTC, is an occupational therapist with 20 years of NICU expertise in feeding, swallowing, and developmental skills for premature infants and newborns through 5 years.
Heather holds her advanced board certification in pediatrics through the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), is recognized by AOTA as an Early Intervention Specialist, is a certified neonatal therapist, and received her NIDCAP and Neonatal Touch & Massage certifications in 2012.
Heather helped her NICU’s quality improvement team integrate family-centered, neuroprotective, and neuropromotive care practices as standards of care and led the development of the NICU wound care team. With the support of NICU leadership, Heather changed the rehab model of neonatal therapy from consultative to an embedded and valued part of the NICU team. Heather co-developed and managed a high-risk follow-up clinic serving birth to 3 years and is a co-investigator for Improving Long-Term Neurodevelopmental Outcomes of Low Birth Weight and Extremely Premature Infants, currently in the process of being submitted for publication.
Heather founded Beyond Preemie, a private practice occupational therapy clinic located in the Houston Heights, specializing in feeding and development from birth through five years, bringing her expertise to her community.
